Recreation in the area

Did you know that Ralph Brown Community Centre offers Youth drop-in, movie nights every second week and FREE ice skating?

The ice skating rink is complete with boards and is open for use every single evening from 5:30 - 8 pm. Drop in for youth is available every since day from 3:30 - 6 pm right now.

Their full schedule is available at http://www.gcwcc.mb.ca/documents/RalphBrownProfileNov2011.xls.

A little out of the area is another great rink, (right next to the beautiful North Centennial Recreation and Leisure Facility) the Old Exhibition. They have public skating every Saturday from 12:30 - 1:30 pm.

All City of Winnipeg arena's public skate times can be found at http://winnipeg.ca/cms/recreation/pdfs/Public%20skate.pdf.

Speaking of North Centennial, their facility offers free swimming reserved JUST FOR YOUTH every Friday and Saturday from 7 to 9 pm. Anyone aged 9 - 19 can go free of charge.

A great way for families to swim for a great rate is to go during the Family Toonie swim, where you and your spouse/partner and all of the dependent children in your home get to go swimming for $2.

Loonie/Toonie swim, where admission is $1 per person under 18 and $2 for anyone over 18, is offered twice a week also; Tuesdays during the day from 10 am - Noon and Fridays from 4 - 6:30 pm.

Their schedule can be found at http://winnipeg.ca/cms/recreation/pdfs/swim%20schedules/north_centennial_winter.pdf. All North Centennial schedule times are current until March 11.

Recreation, especially done as a family, can have a lasting impression on our children and youth and is a great way to stay fit, healthy and have fun!
